Chronic Illness: Taking a Walk

I just wanted to recreate one day recently that I was
able to get to my park nearby and walk a little. It was a warm 65 degrees F
winter day, and of course it felt good so I walked too far for my FM, but what a
great day to walk along the dirt path, smelling the eucalyptus trees that I grew
up around.... and there really are giant swallowtail butterflies around here,
though not yet.... In fact that day I only heard the birds, but thought I would
add the animals and birds one would see there in the early evening.... I have
since been able to go back to the park two more times - a great
success! Each day I can get myself out... and be IN NATURE, I am healthier for
it, even if my FM "gets mad" at me a bit later on... it IS worth it!
I did keep my walks shorter though...and I talked to people, including one
mentally challenged young man who came too close to me and said:
I just like to talk to people! So I did, exchanging names and some small talk...
in my life now, I know how it is to be limited and how much any
of us simply want the companionship and recognition in a considerate thoughtful
way.
